Below are a pair of mics that were stored in a damp basement and are in such bad condition
that they need almost all of the parts replaced. The top mic is a 77D and the bottom is a 77DX
It was just as easy to make the 77DX satin chrome
The inside had lots of corrosion and had to be bead blasted and zinc
plated.
About the only thing used from the original was the motor assembly
and transformer.
A restoration project this extensive cost about $800 per mic.
